Ma tournée canadienne
Au cours des dernières semaines, j’ai donné plusieurs discours devant des centaines de militants un peu partout au Canada à l’invitation d’associations conservatrices locales. À chaque fois, je parle, comme dans mes discours de Calgary, Winnipeg et Mont St-Grégoire, de nos valeurs conservatrices, c’est-à-dire de liberté et responsabilité individuelles, de libre marché et de la nécessité de réduire l’intervention de l’État dans l’économie et dans nos vies.
Je suis toujours agréablement surpris de constater que ce message est très bien reçu par les personnes présentes. J’en profite pour les remercier d’être venues me rencontrer et les encourager à promouvoir nos valeurs ainsi qu’à poursuivre leur important travail pour faire élire leur candidat local à la prochaine élection.
Voici quelques photos prises lors de ces événements.
Sur celle-ci, je suis avec des membres de l’exécutif de l’association de St-Maurice-Champlain lors d’un événement à Trois-Rivières le 13 juin. Il s’agit de M. Ghislain Naud, secrétaire, M. Michel Champagne, président, M. Marco Gauvin, directeur du recrutement et M. Maxim Boivert, directeur des communications. L’événement réunissait également des membres d’autres associations de la région.
Le 26 juin, j’étais conférencier dans la très belle région de Courtenay sur l’île de Vancouver. Sur la photo, mon collègue John Duncan, député de Vancouver Island North, me sert une huitre. Cet article a été publié dans un journal local.
Le 7 juillet, je me suis adressé à des militants de Kenora en Ontario, une circonscription représentée au Parlement par mon collègue Greg Rickford.
Des militants de Brome-Missisquoi m’ont accueilli à Magog le 11 juillet. Me voici avec l’exécutif de l’association conservatrice.
Enfin, j’étais dimanche dernier à Port Franks, sur les bords du Lac Huron dans le sud de l’Ontario, où je me suis adressé à des militants de la circonscription de Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. Sur la photo, l’hôte de l’événement, M. Bill Graham, ainsi que mon collègue député Bev Shipley, m’accompagnent.

Je serai à Edmonton samedi prochain pour un important événement organisé par 14 associations du nord de l’Alberta, et dans d’autres villes canadiennes au cours des prochains mois.

Keep on with your great message… this country needs to hear much more about individual freedom and responsibility. The values that made our country great, but now seem to be getting chipped away increasingly with the rise of socialism in our media and opposition parties. The Conservative party could be be stronger at voicing these important values as well.
Keep on with the message that you are spreading. It resonates well with me and with many others in Ontario. The term « Grits » refers to old time rural Liberals from southern Ontario. That old time heritage now votes Conservative. Only the current Conservatives reflect their traditional values.
Montreal and Toronto are left wing liberals who espouse a new socialist type of Liberalism. Strangely, Toronto changed with the English diaspora from Montreal. We only need to overcome habit in Quebec and the Maritime provinces to become a true countrywide party. Toronto will not easily change as long as the biased and socialist Toronto Star is the largest read newspaper.
Also, my Canada has always included Quebec. If Quebec and the rest of the country cannot find a way to grow and prosper together, then what is the hope for the rest of the world.
Maxime, I hope you received a warm traditional Northern Alberta welcome. My apologies for missing you, but I had earlier commitments that I could not get out of.

When I was growing up, the Conservative party was considered the party of big business and the wealthy. The NDP were the radical socialists and the Liberals protected the intersts of the ‘average working class’.
Those perceptions have changed dramatically over the years. Pandering to special interests (corporations and unions) and government financed collectivism (socialism) have evolved over the years to create our ‘mixed economy’ where it is now our government that regulates the economy and redistributes Our (tax payer) wealth to such an extent that the individual rights and freedoms of the ‘average working class’ have all but been eroded.
We must get back to a reasonable government that is responsible to the individual. Every individual must be allowed to work to achieve his/her own rational self-interest without interference.
The Conservative vision put forth by you Mr. Bernier answers that call. The plain spoken common sense approach IS understood and the opportunity and invitation to debate is appreciated by the ‘average working class’ in need of such support, when they can be reached.
For that reason, I fully support and applaud everything you are doing to make this discussion come alive. However your tireless efforts mst be promoted by those of us who wish to expand the interaction, throughout Canada as well as here in your riding, where perhaps the message will seep through to the provincial level where government intervention and collectivism, and every restraint upon the individual that implies, is the paralysing norm.
This blog must be referenced and promoted in every political blog and editorial online with the mention that it is the only place where an MP is actually posting concrete ideas and inviting debate from the individual. Respect for the electorate … an innovative concept to be sure … forget the 40 page census … your actual input is of value here …
