Press Review: an interview and a column on money
Yesterday, I gave an interview to Roadkill Radio, an Internet radio based in Vancouver, on money. We discussed at length inflation, deflation, the Bank of Canada’s inflation target, the gold standard and other monetary issues that I had talked about in my recent speech at the Economic Club in Toronto. Also, economic columnist Neil Reynolds wrote an interesting column on the same speech two weeks ago in the Globe and Mail: “Bernier the Bold’s gold theory deserves greater currency“.

Je ne m’explique absolument pas comment vous pouvez défendre votre politique monétaire alors que les sujets de l’heure sont la décision incompréhensible de votre gouvernement de créer une agence fédérale de réglementation des valeurs mobilières, les abus et la répression inadmissible des droits et libertés lors du G20, le retrait du formulaire obligatoire au recensement et enfin l’achat inconsidéré d’avions de chasse (entre 6 et 9 milliards) conduisant directement à un autre contrat, le tout toujours sans appel d’offres, contrat d’entretien des dits avions pour lesquels le gouvernement U.S. détient des secrets importants et dont la fabrication et la vérification des composantes se fera nécessairement en sol américain, le tout pour environ 7 milliards. Cette décision s’est fait sans débat public, sans consultation avec la société civile.
C’est une véritable invasion de notre souveraineté, de nos libertés, voilà ce que vous devriez défendre.
